Remember the old TV game show “To Tell the Truth” with one truth-teller (who did not always tell the truth) and two impostors? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048907/#comment (scroll down to user comments). Our search for “the real Brad Roberts” is beginning to resemble that show. ………………. For years our attempts to learn the simplest things about THAT Brad Roberts led nowhere. Most of what we did know came from Ron Phillips and Mark Fuhrman. But when we looked back over everything we had on him it becomes apparent that the only reason we even know what he looks like is because of a sudden move O.J. made when he was being handcuffed by the playhouse in his front yard. After that Roberts could not hide himself without giving away the fact that he was doing it. …………….His bearing has always said “military” to me. The dead ends we consistently ran into when trying to learn his real name, his age, when he joined the LAPD, where he lived in ‘94, what he did before he became Fuhrman’s partner and what he did before he became an LAPD officer, screamed “spook!” Tantalizing, but not enough. ……………..Lisa Nichols’ disclosure that he went into the deep sea fishing charter boat business when he retired led me to the address of a 57-year-old man named Bradford D. Roberts. That address had clusters of movie connections to The House on Carroll Street and a comparable scene in Fuhrman’s Murder in Greenwich movie. I found streets named Carroll in Marina Del Rey and in Los Angeles near Dodger Stadium before I found the address of anyone named Brad Roberts who could have been Fuhrman’s partner. …………….. When someone else found “a” Brad Roberts on a deep sea fishing boat named Prowler (of all things) in Marina Del Rey along with a connection to the Baja Peninsula, a red flag went up. It was TOO CLOSE a fit to Iago and the relevant chapter in The Smoking Gun 3 to accept on face value. It looked like a possible setup to discredit the Iago hypotheses and everything to do with it related to the movie connections I noted in Iago in Brentwood and The Smoking Gun books. Everything depended on whether the Bradford D. Roberts I found in West Hollywood was Fuhrman’s partner or someone with that name who just happened to be about the right age. It was tantalizing but not enough. As always, a critical bit of information required to pin it down was missing. There was a 57-year-old Bradford H. Roberts in Newberry, CA who owned a yacht called “Hatt Squad.” ……………Meanwhile, Rovaan found a man named Brad Roberts who served in the Air Force in Germany in the early 1970s. http://www.rimbachvets.org/tales.html and a photo of him http://www.rimbachvets.org/ (scroll to bottom). Compare that photo to the way Fuhrman’s partner looked in 1997 http://smartfellowspress.com/smokinggun/Great.html (scroll to bottom) Tantalizing but still not enough. If it’s the same guy it becomes much more than that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Air_Force_Security_Service …………. What’s going on here? Will the real Brad Roberts please stand up. –Jasper
