John, You are correct about this...although as Miss Marple says, this was hard to do--at least in the manner that Riske described he did it.
However, some "official' person had to declare them dead. That was also discussed. The EMT would have the OK to go into the scene whereas Riske would have had to be "careful".
Also, by law, dead or not, they are to call the ambulance and they EMT was required by law to call the coroner just as the cops were ASAP--but neither did.
