(Mint Green) Prosecution Witness / Plaintiff in O.J.’s Civil Trial / Spokesperson for Brown Family/ Born in Germany / Dana Point, CA. beauty queen/ Top fashion model for the Eileen Ford Modeling Agency / Close physical resemblance to her sister Nicole Brown Simpson. Falsely claimed to have taken a photo purported to be Nicole's battered face that was found in a safe deposit box opened in Nicole's name. A September 30, 1990 will bearing Nicole's signature was also found in the box.
Relationship to: O.J. Simpson: (familial – sister-in-law): In O.J.’s murder trial Denise claimed that Nicole told her O.J. physically abused her. She claimed that she saw O.J. slam Nicole against a wall and throwing her out of the house. In her civil trial deposition she claimed that O.J. humiliated Nicole in a bar when she was pregnant with her second child Justin, told her she was fat, grabbed her crotch and said, “This is where babies come from.” O.J. denied that the incident occurred, adding that Justin was delivered by Cistercian section. No witnesses to these incidences that Denise named corroborated either story. Denise said Nicole told her that O.J. raped her in their parents’ home on Mother’s Day (May 8) 1994 when she refused $5,000 offer to have sex with him. She said that she heard O.J. threaten to kill Nicole. The only other person to make that claim was Faye Resnick.
Nicole Simpson (familial – older sister): Denise claimed that she took a Polaroid photo of Nicole’s face on New Years Day 1989 that showed Nicole in dark red lipstick with one swollen eye and one black eye. Nicole never wore dark red lipstick. The lipstick, the swollen eye and the black eye were absent from the photo Officer John Edwards took on New Years Day 1989.
Nicole Brown Simpson Charitable Foundation (official – founder and spokesperson): Denise founded the NBS Charitable Foundation in 1995 with Nicole’s younger sister Dominique Brown, parents Lou and Juditha Brown and her sisters Tanya as officers. All drew salaries far in excess of the funds paid to shelter battered women and their children. The foundation’s total expenditures exceeded the shelter expenditures by more than 25 to 1.
The foundation was launched in New York under the sponsorship of Jeff C. Nobel’s No Excuses sportswear whose previous spokeswomen included Donna Rice, Marla Maples and Paula Jones. All three women are related to sex scandals, the National Enquirer and Presidential politics.
Rice was involved in a sex scandal the cost Colorado’s Senator Gary Hart the frontrunner spot in his campaign to win the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. His chances disappeared when the National Enquire ran a June 2, 1987 photo of him on his yacht “Monkey Business” with Donna Rice sitting on his lap.
Marla Maples was the second wife of New York real estate and New Jersey casino billionaire Donald Trump from 1993 to 1999. Her boyfriends include Michael Bolton, with whom O.J. Simpson’s former girlfriend Paula Barbieri also had an affair and Dodi Fayed, the man who died in the car crash that killed Princess Dianna. Among Fayed’s former girlfriends was Denise Brown. Clyde Wilson, a private investigator working for Trump’s first wife Ivana reported Trump’s affair with Marla to the National Enquirer. Trump announced that he would run for President of the United States but changed his mind in 1999 when Marla announced that she would go public with “unflattering details of their married life” if he did. Nicole and Denise were beauty pageant winners. Donald trump owned the Miss Universe, Miss Teen USA and Miss USA beauty pageants.
Paula Jones began a sexual harassment lawsuit against Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton. Her suit, backed by a Washington D.C. “think tank” associated with Special Prosecutor Kenneth Star, was financed by the Richard Scaife Foundations and drew in Lucianne Goldberg, Mark Fuhrman, Linda Tripp and Monica Lewinski. It ended in the sex scandal that lead to President Clinton’s impeachment. The National Enquire led the way in reporting rumors about the Lewinski affair. Those rumors turned into solid news when Linda Tripp released her secretly taped conversations with Lewinski and Goldberg, supposedly on the advise of Fuhrman told, Tripp to get Lewinski to save the blue dress with the President’s seamen stain on it.
Jeff Nobel, the first president of the Nicole Brown Simpson Charitable Foundation, was awaiting sentencing at the time of the foundation’s launch on a federal perjury charge involving a savings and loan swindle. He also had a restraining order against him for posing a “clear and present danger” to his wife and children.
Dominique Brown (familial – sister / see Nicole Brown Simpson Charitable Foundation and Sydney Simpson): Denise and Dominique roomed together in New York City before moving back to California. Denise claimed to be close to Nicole. While they did appear in publicized photos with O.J., and their children, there are no crossover photos of Denise with Nicole’s inner circle of friends, Cora Fischman, Kris Jenner, Cynthia Shahian and Faye Resnick. Dominique, on the other hand, appeared in several photos with Nicole, Cora, Kris, Cynthia and Faye. Denise and Faye could not have missed each other at Sydney Simpson’s June 12 dance recital, except that Faye checked into a drug rehab center four days earlier.
Writer Joseph Bosco indicated in his book A Problem of Evidence that Denise told police she saw O.J. wearing the killer’s Bruno Magli Lorenzos. In Evidence Dismissed Det. Tom Lange attributed the identification to Dominique who was wearing a pair of Nicole’s shoes with the Bruno Magli logo when he interviewed her.
Sydney Simpson (familial – aunt.): Denise attended Sydney Simpson’s dance recital along with her father and mother, her sister Dominique and Nicole’s friends, Candice Garvey, Cora Fishman, Cynthia Shahian and Kris Kardashian. Denise claimed that O.J. was in a dark mood but an out of town visitor to L.A. videotaped O.J. joking with her father after the rectal and Denise giving O.J. a kiss. She would not allow Sydney to tell detectives about the “Hey! Hey! Hey!” she heard on the night of the murders or the phone conversation that she hard between her mother and her mother’s “best friend” that made Nicole cry. Faye Resnick said that she made the call but claimed it was upbeat. Det. Tom Lange allowed Denise to speak for Justin and Sydney’s. He, therefore, did not follow up with Sydney on the discrepancy between her characterization of the phone conversation she heard and the one Faye said she had with Nicole.
Lou Brown (familial – oldest daughter): Denise’s cousin Rolf Bower told D.A. investigators that Lou Brown took the Polaroid photo of Nicole’s “battered” face that Denise claimed she took on New Year’s Day 1989. The film was dated 1979. Judge Lance Ito did not allow the photo into evidence. He noted that the shelf life of the film was one year. Lou drove his daughter Dominique’s SUV to Sydney Simpson’s dance recital one June 12. He said that he never saw O.J. abuse Nicole. Denise could not drive because of a restricted driver’s license. Lou was going to take her to court on the 13th as the plaintiff in a personal injury lawsuit when Arnelle Simpson called the Brown home to report Nicole’s death. Denise was in her mother’s room and answered her phone. Lou answered a phone in another room but when Arnelle broke down sobbing, Det. Tom Lange took the phone and told Lou what happened.
Tom Lange (police business – primary investigation contact source): When Det. Lange told Lou Brown that his daughter Nicole had been killed Denise immediately exclaimed, “I knew he would do it! I know that motherfucker would kill her! I know it! I knew it! O.J. did it! O.J. killed her! I knew that son of a bitch was going to kill her.” This is when Lange decided to use Denise as a primary information source about O.J.’s relationship with Nicole. Buy the time Faye Resnick Private Diary book and Sheila Weller’s Raging Heart book were published he would have already heard their characterization of O.J. from Denise. When Lange wanted direct confirmation from Sydney about the “Hey! Hey! Hey!” and the phone call that made her mother cry, Denise would not allow it.
Juditha Brown (familial – oldest daughter): Juditha dined at the Mezzaluna Restaurant on the evening of June 12, 1994 with Denise, Denise’s son, Nicole, Nicole’s son and daughter, Lou, Dominique and Sydney’s friend Rachel. Juditha testified that she called the restaurant about a pair of glasses she discovered were missing and spoke to manager Karen Crawford who retrieved them. Juditha first said that she spoke to Nicole on the phone for the last time at 11:00 p.m. to talk about the recital, to tell her about the glasses and to make arrangements for picking them up. She testified in the criminal trial that she made the call at 9:40 and spoke for approximately 3 minutes. One of her telephone bills indicates that the call was made at 9:30 and lasted 2 minutes.
A Juditha Brown telephone bill that Marcia Clark gave to the defense and Robert Shapiro offered to stipulate to in the preliminary hearing showed that she last called Nicole at 10:17. The conversation lasted 11 minutes ending at 10:28. She said that she never saw O.J. abuse Nicole and didn’t believe Nicole’s stories that he did.
Dominic Dunne (professional – circumstantial): See Geraldo Rivera. Denise sate behind Vanity Fair reporter Dominick Dunne in Judge Lance Ito’s courtroom when she attended O.J.’s criminal trial. Although Dunne’s job was to cover the trial, including Denise’s testimony, and to uncover news connected with the trial, none of Dunne’s stories involved interviews with Denise. The only recoded connection between them is in the videotapes of her sitting behind him in court. Absent these pictures his links to her run a circuitous route through his publishing connections to Alfred Regnery of Regnery Publishing with publicist Lucianne Goldberg, The National Crime Syndicate, The National Enquirer and Dove Press. Denise and Dunne appeared at different times as repeat guests on Geraldo Rivera’s O.J. talk show.
Lucianne Goldberg (indirect – circumstantial): See Dominick Dunne and Al Cowlings.Geraldo Rivera (professional and intimate – talk show guest and lover): Rumors about Denise’s sexual relationship with Rivera were indirectly confirmed during Denise’s O.J. civil trial deposition when a defense attorney asked her a series of specific questions about their relationship and her attorney told her not to answer.
Robert Evans (intimate – girlfriend): Evans was a close associate of producer Don Simpson who succeeded him as president of Paramount Studios. He dated Nicole around the time he was implicated in the 1984 “Cotton Club” murder of producer Roy Radin. Evans’ name appeared in Heidi Fleiss’ notorious book of clients. Heidi Fleiss took over Madam Alex’s call girl business, including her clients, her girls and the various LAPD and federal intelligence agencies connected to the operation. While there is no direct link between Denise and Dominick Dunne they are connected by Denise’s relationship to Evans, his relationship with Heidi Fleiss and Heidi’s relationship to Dunne. Dunne introduced Heidi and Faye Resnick to Nancy Regan and Betsy Bloomingdale.
Al Cowlings (intimate – girlfriend): Denise dated Al Cowlings, a close friend of O.J. Simpson and a driver for Mob Boss and FBI informant Joey Ippolito from 1993 to 1994. Ippolito was a West Coast heir to Myer Lansky’s Murder Inc. Lansky and his friend Lucky Luciano founded the National Crime Syndicate (the Mob). The publicist for Alfred Regnery and O.J.’s chief accuser Mark Fuhrman was Lucianne Goldberg. She was a former CIA employee, former John Kennedy supporter and “dirty tricks” operative for Richard Nixon in his 1972 campaign against George McGovern. Her mentor in the dirty tricks operation was Murray Chotiner, Special Counsel for Richard Nixon a lawyer for Murder Inc.
Craig Fiato, a.k.a. “Tony the Animal” Fiato (intimate – girlfriend): During O.J.’s criminal trial 1995 Denise started dating Craig Fiato, an informant for the FBI and a member of the Joey Ippolito crime family.
Alan Butterfield (intimate – girlfriend): Denise dated Alan Butterfield, a reporter for the National Enquirer from 1995 to 2005. Butterfield reported extensively on alleged scandalous incidents involving O.J. Simpson during the criminal and civil trial and afterwards. He toured portions of Afghanistan for the Enquirer with Afghan fighters resisting the Taliban in November 2001. He could have done so only with the active assistance of the C.I.A.
National Enquirer (indirect – incidental): See Alan Butterfield and the Nicole Brown Simpson Charitable Foundation (Marla Maples). Although the Enquirer reported extensively on Princess Diana and O.J. Simpson, no Enquirer reports surfaced on Denise Brown’s relationship to Dodi Fayed.
Ron Shipp (disputed): In Denise’s civil trial deposition O.J.’s attorney Phillip Baker asked her about seeing Ron Shipp and Faye Resnick in January ’94 when she was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She denied seeing them. Then he asked her who here passengers were. Her attorney instructed her not to answer. Denise and Shipp were substantial contributors to Sheila Weller’s anti-O.J. book Raging Heart.
Faye Resnick (disputed): See Ron Shipp. Denise denied knowing Faye before Nicole and Ron Goldman were murdered. However, she admitted visiting Nicole at her Bundy condo when Faye was an everyday visitor.
Arthur Barens (inferential / speculative): Faye Resnick said that she met personal injury lawyer Arthur Barens at a charity function prior to Nicole’s murder. After the Bundy murders Faye said that Barens advised her that the best way to protect herself from O.J. was to put her story of O.J.-the-monster in a book. Faye then met with Dominick Dunne, Robin Greer and Dove Press publisher Michael Viner. Viner rushed the book into print with National Enquirer reporter Mike Walker writing in the first person of Faye Resnick.
Dunne’s involvement in the process of getting Faye’s Private Diary book in print touches on key figures linked directly to Faye and Denise. Personal Injury attorney Arthur Barens could be one of them. Given Denise’s claim that she did not know Faye prior to Nicole’s death any connection shown between them would have made her a prime candidate for a perjury charge. It also would have opened the door to the defense attorneys’ ability to argue a frame-up conspiracy involving Faye and Denise. However, when the defense asked who Denise’s attorney was in her personal injury case, which was settled with a $104,000 victory award after Faye’s Private Diary went on sale, her O.J. civil trial attorney interjected, “If you recall.” Denise then said she did not recall.

Cora Fishman (social): After Sydney Simpson’s dance recital while family and friends were still inside the school, Denise left the group. During her absence Cora Fischman asked her husband Ron to photograph O.J. and Sydney. His photo showed O.J. from head to foot. His shoes looked similar to Bruno Magli Lorenzos but the photo showed they weren’t.
Robert Kardashian (geographical): Joseph Bosco traced a house across the street from Mark Fuhrman to one that Bosco says Kardashian and O.J. used for illegal activities. Denise worked at a clothing store in Torrance less than six miles from this property and Mark Fuhrman’s home in Redondo Beach.
Mark Fuhrman (geographical): See Robert Kardashian, Dominick Dunne and Al Cowlings.
Town and Country Limousine Service (geographical): Worked five miles south of Town and Country Limousine Service in Torrance where Rocky Bateman worked as a chauffeur. Bateman claimed he was O.J.’s regular driver and was originally scheduled to pick up O.J. on the 12th to take him to the airport. His boss Dale St. John gave the assignment to Allan Park. Park lived across the street from Dale St. John and his limo service.
